School Programs
Pillar Ranch works with schools during a weekly lesson to teenage students
in the learning process. The lesson plans utilize a strength-based approach
that engages the four different learning styles.
Our program teaches valuable life skills and builds character while incorporating Colorado Academic Standards
and the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets into the lesson plans.
Pillar Ranch's certified instructors partner with school administrators, teachers,
and school therapists to develop specific goals to encourage positive behaviors
in youth that are not showing success in traditional school settings.
Students participate in non-riding activities, which are designed to identify the necessary
skills that students need to make better choices and have positive outcomes,
using the horses.

Pillar Ranch has a program designed to partner with the local school system to re-engage disengaged, struggling students and special needs students. The program meets academic standards at the targeted grade level.
The program Pillar Ranch uses has been successful for nearly 5 years in the Indianapolis public school system. The designers of this successful program were licensed educators, psychologists with experience among students, and other professionals in academia. Research has shown that the program Pillar Ranch offers can be more effective in both results and cost than traditional classroom methods. The 40 Developmental Assets from the Search Institute, Rubrics, and a Character Education program are included, as well as the Academic Standards for the targeted grade level.
If a complete semester long program is not desired, a character education workshop or a half-day field trip can be offered. These options will be rich in educational opportunities as well.
