Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)

EAP is a partnership between a licensed psychotherapist or counselor, a horse professional, horses, and the client(s). The horse helps those in need of healing, support, change, or growth. EAP has been studied and successfully practiced for the past 10 plus years. It addresses many different mental health and human development issues such as:

Horses are the key to Equine Assisted Psychotherapy because of their sensitivity to non-verbal communication and their size. They are able to challenge clients in a non-threatening manner and rapidly break down defensive barriers. The horse can quickly help the client change patterns from dysfunctional ones to successful ones. Who can use EAP? Individuals, families, couples, groups, and even corporations for teambuilding and communication exercises.
